MMI Hosts Ghana Armed Forces Delegation for Health Insurance Benchmarking Visit Kigali, Rwanda

From 15 to 18 April 2026, Military Medical Insurance (MMI) is hosting a delegation from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for a strategic benchmarking mission aimed at strengthening military health insurance systems.
The visit focuses on the exchange of technical expertise and operational best practices to support the Ghana Armed Forces in developing and enhancing their own military mutual health support framework.
On 16 April, the Director General of MMI, Col (Rtd) King R. Kayondo, officially welcomed the delegation and delivered a comprehensive presentation on the evolution of MMI since its establishment in 2005. He highlighted the institution’s transformation from a post-conflict recovery initiative into a modern and high-performing organization, aligned with Rwanda’s Vision 2050.
During the briefing, it was emphasized that MMI’s role goes beyond healthcare provision. The scheme plays a critical role in strengthening operational readiness, boosting personnel morale and motivation, and ensuring comprehensive welfare—key factors that contribute to long-term staff retention within the armed forces.
As part of the four-day program, the delegation will also visit the Rwanda Military Teaching Hospital (RMTH) on 17 April. This visit will provide practical insights into MMI’s integrated healthcare delivery model and its collaboration with service providers.
This benchmarking engagement reflects MMI’s commitment to regional collaboration and knowledge-sharing in advancing sustainable and efficient military health systems.
