Gasabo District – July 2, 2025 – Military Medical Insurance (MMI) Personnel joined by dignitaries, members of security organs, local leaders, genocide survivors, and community residents, commemorated the 31st anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. 
The commemoration was organized to honor the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi and took place at the Nkuzuzu Memorial Site in Bumbogo Sector, Gasabo District, where over a thousand genocide victims are laid to rest. 
In his address, Mr. Philibert Gakwenzire, the President of IBUKA at the national level, who graced the event as the Guest of Honor; he expressed profound gratitude to the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) under the visionary leadership of H.E. President Paul Kagame, commending their selfless efforts in halting the Genocide against the Tutsi. He further praised the RDF’s continued contribution to national development, including humanitarian initiatives such as donation of cows and other vital support to genocide survivors across the country. 
Mr. Gakwenzire also commended MMI leadership and staff for their active participation in commemoration activities and their ongoing support to genocide survivors nationwide, including within Gasabo District.
In his remarks, the Director General of MMI, Col (Rtd) K R KAYONDO emphasized the vital role of remembrance in combating genocide ideology and preserving the truth for future generations. He urged all participants to uphold the values of truth, dignity, and national unity.
As part of its social responsibility program, MMI donated seven (07) cows to needy genocide survivors from Bumbogo, Gikomero, Nduba and Rutunga sectors of Gasabo District.  This act aims to support both their economic empowerment aligning with national programs like Girinka and reflecting the RDF’s core values of service to the nation.
As a gesture of solidarity, the Director General of MMI also presented a financial contribution to support the renovation and vital memory preservation efforts at the Nkuzuzu Memorial Site.
